Metapurse
Metapurse is famously known for their purchase of Beeple’s artwork for $69 million at Christie’s auction in 2021 (link). We collaborated with Metapurse as a part of the International Antarctic Expedition for Climate Change.
• The International Antarctic Expedition for Climate Change selects 100 young leaders worldwide to work on climate policy and action to prevent the revision of the Madrid Protocol that currently protects Antarctica from human exploitation till 2041.
• During this expedition, we executed interesting ideas to raise awareness for Ethereum’s migration from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake protocol. This significant transition resulted in a remarkable reduction of Ethereum's energy consumption by a staggering 99.95%. As an integral part of the expedition, we accomplished several notable feats that showcased the potential of blockchain technology and its positive impact on the environment.
• As a part of this expedition we set up the world’s southernmost ETH light node, and minted the first NFT in Antarctica. The NFT, featuring artwork created by the esteemed Cannes-award-winning artist, Vinci Raj, was minted with an internet connection facilitated by the Chilean military base in Antarctica. The proceeds from the sale of this NFT were transparently recorded on the blockchain and directed towards supporting climate efforts worldwide.
